“no matter what anyone says or does, my task is to be good. like gold or emerald or purple repeating to itself, "no matter what anyone says or does, my task is to be emerald, my color undiminished.”

If I sank into the earth, what would become of me?

I feel so heavy above ground.

Would I grow into something huge, like these sequoia trees?

Or a sweet and friendly daisy?

Do daisies know they’re kind?

Maybe I’d be a simple blade of grass, a dog could chew on me for tummy aches.

Would I remain dirt?

How deep would I sink, maybe I get sucked down to the crust.

Would gravity have mercy.

I want to be near the top, so I can hear laughter, feel rain and the scorch of summer.

Dirt is full of nutrients, minerals.

It is not some little filthy thing, maybe I should aspire to be dirt.

Help other things grow.
